As Fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and Fellow member of Institute of Corporate Secretaries of Pakistan (ICSP), she possesses 30 years of combined working and professional experience. After completing her professional training in 1991 from Ford Rhodes Robson Morrow, she joined First Leasing Corporation, the then largest equity based listed company in Pakistan and developed her core expertise in corporate finance services during her 10 year association with the Company. Her confidence and sound professional skills were at the forefront of raising hundreds of million rupees for financing large to medium size projects. She managed treasury portfolio and kept peak profitability through balanced and safe treasury mechanism. She remained Secretary to the Board for over 3 years and was instrumental in concluding merger of First Leasing with Paramount Leasing in 2003. Later she led Risk Management & Credit Monitoring Cell at First Women Bank as Executive Vice President for a year. Besides developing standard operating procedures for risk management and credit disbursement functions of the Bank, she managed to reduce twenty percent infected portfolio in shortest possible time. She was one of the strongest members of Executive and Credit Committee when working for First Women Bank.

To turn her passion of entrepreneurship into reality she started her professional practice and founded Usmani & Co. Chartered Accountants in 2004, currently serving as Managing Partner of the Firm. Under her leadership for more than a decade the Firm has been serving assurance, advisory and taxation services to a vast clientele in textile, energy, pharmaceutical, shipping and other prominent business sectors in Pakistan. She has pioneered a unique working model whereby women professionals have the opportunity to work from home. Her contribution for women in finance and gender diversity in Pakistan is widely appreciated across the globe; The World Bank’s Report on Observance of Standards & Codes A&A 2017 for Pakistan has notably acknowledged and appreciated her initiative. Due to her contribution for women empowerment UCO is included in the United Nation’s Global list of signatories of Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs).

In her various professional achievements she made history in 2017 and got support from majority members who elected her as first female Council Member of ICAP for the term 2017-21. After assuming responsibilities as Council Member she is now serving on important strategic committees of ICAP including Executive, Examination, Internal Audit, Auditing Standards & Ethics, Small & Medium Practices Committees and Chairperson CA Women’s Committee. Internationally she represents Pakistan as member of Women Committee of the South Asian Federation of Accountants(SAFA).
She is also a Member of Sales Tax & Refunds Committee, Provincial & Local Taxes and Women Entrepreneurs Committees of Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
She is Collective GB Member, Shirkatgah, an NGO working for women rights.

Her most prominent recognitions include:

  • First female Chartered Accountant of Zuberi family-1992;
  • Nominated as most inspiring woman by US-Pakistan Women’s Council-2013;
  • Highlighted in Express Tribune as ‘The Chartered Accountant who is changing the rules of the game’
 2016;
  • Named as role model by ICAP and projected as a role model by Association of Accounting Technician, England and Wales-2017 and
  • Finalist of Momentum Award from Ladies Fund Pakistan -2017.

She is a Certified Director and regular speaker on financial and economic topics at various professional forums.
